Winter in the Northeast can be tough. Sometimes it seems the only option is to stay inside until the season passes. But – here – there’s another way.

Book a cozy Cape May getaway.

Dine at Harry’s Ocean Bar and Grille

Harry’s offers delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus specialty cocktails, local beer, and fine wine Thursday through Sunday this winter. Enjoy beautiful warm comfort food and beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean. Happy hour Thursday, Friday, and Sunday.

Bundle Up and Enjoy Cape May

We all know Cape May is a popular summertime destination. Travel Channel ranked its beaches among the top 10 in the country. But winter in Cape May is fun too. Whether traveling with friends and family or planning a romantic weekend for two, here are the best things to do this winter in Cape May, NJ.

Listen to Music at Cape May Winery

Every Saturday Cape May Winery hosts local musicians from 1:30pm to 4:30pm. Enjoy a glass of wine (or two) and listen to fantastic performances by a rotating line-up of talented artists. Cape May Winery’s 2024 schedule will be available soon.

Tour Historic (and Haunted) Cape May

Cape May is famous for its historic wood-framed Victorian homes, many of which are reported to be haunted. Several mediums and groups offer ghost tours throughout the winter, where brave guests scan for paranormal with EVP recorders and EMF meters.

Explore the Doo Wop District

Fun fact, Cape May was a popular gathering place for members of the Doo Wop music scene. Today, lovers of the genre tour iconic Cape May Doo Wop landmarks including the Doo Wop District, where a collection of vintage motels (and their kitschy signs) still stand.

Partake in Polar Bear Plunges

For the not-so-faint-of-heart, Cape May and the surrounding area host several Polar Bear Plunges each winter where daredevils brave the icy Atlantic wearing only bathing suits. Of course, all this is for a good cause. Each Polar Bear Plunge aims to raise funds for a good cause like the Special Olympics. Trophies and championship cups are given out to the highest fundraising teams.

Experience Cape May Arts & Culture

One of the most famous contemporary theatres in New Jersey is Cape May Stage, which features plays, musicals, showcases, and other special events all year long. In 2023, performances included: Shirley Valentine, Art, The Garbologists, and A Tuna Christmas. Plus, its Broadway Series featured: Carole J. Bufford in Concert, Anthony Murphy in Concert, and Amanda McBroom in Concert. Check back for the 2024 lineup coming soon. In addition to the theatre, many nearby art galleries feature both classic and modern ocean art by local artists. Ocean Galleries and Beacon Art are two of the most visited by art lovers.

As you can see, there’s plenty to do here in winter in Cape May. Harry’s Ocean Bar & Grille is a favorite Cape May restaurant and rooftop bar. Philadelphia Magazine named Harry’s one of the best places to drink outside on the Jersey shore. Open Seasonally for breakfast, lunch, happy hour, and dinner. Join us!
